Privacy Policy
Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what personal information Voryn Connect collects, why we collect it, how we protect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We collect only what we need to run the service, and we never sell your personal data.
Effective date: July 18, 2026 · Applies to: Jamaica1.Who this policy covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses Voryn Connect: customers, partner businesses and their staff, drivers, couriers and visitors to our website. Voryn Connect, based in Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaica, is the data controller for personal information processed on the platform, and we handle it in line with the Data Protection Act, 2020 (Jamaica).
2.Information we collect
- Account information: your name, phone number, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text). Profile photos are optional.
- Order, ride & booking information: what you ordered or booked, delivery and pickup addresses, ride pickup and destination points, timestamps and status history.
- Payment & wallet information: your wallet balance and transaction history, payment method types, and records of top-ups, transfers, refunds and payouts. We do not store full card numbers; card payments are handled by secure payment processors.
- Location information: with your permission, your device location for pickups, deliveries, ride matching and live tracking, and driver or courier location while they are fulfilling a trip. See section 6.
- Partner verification information: if you apply to become a partner, your business details (legal name, registration number, TRN, business address), the owner's name and ID details, and the documents you upload for review (business registration, government ID, permits). We collect this to verify businesses before they go live, which protects customers.
- Communications: messages you exchange with drivers or couriers through in-app chat, support tickets, contact form submissions and reviews you write.
- Device & usage information: device type, app version, IP address and technical logs that help us keep the service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems.
3.How we use your information
- To run the service: matching you with providers, drivers and couriers, processing orders and payments, operating the wallet, and showing live tracking.
- To keep the platform safe: verifying partners, detecting and preventing fraud, protecting wallet balances, and securing accounts.
- To support you: answering tickets and contact messages, investigating problems with orders, and processing refunds.
- To communicate with you: order and ride status notifications, security alerts, service updates and, with your consent, promotions you can opt out of at any time.
- To meet legal obligations: tax, accounting, anti-fraud and lawful requests from authorities.
- To improve Voryn Connect: understanding how features are used so we can make the service faster and more reliable.
We never sell your personal data. We are not in the business of trading your information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own use.
4.Our legal bases
We process personal information where it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (contract), where you have given consent (for example location permissions and marketing messages), where we have a legitimate interest that does not override your rights (for example fraud prevention and service security), and where the law requires it (for example financial record keeping).
6.Location data
- Customers: we use your location, with permission, to suggest pickup points, deliver to the right place and show your driver or courier approaching in real time. You can manage location permissions in your device settings; some features will not work without them.
- Drivers and couriers: while online and during trips, location is collected to match requests, show live progress to customers, verify pickups and drop-offs, and calculate distance-based earnings.
- Trip location history is kept as part of the transaction record for safety, dispute resolution and fraud prevention. It is not kept indefinitely: precise position history is deleted automatically once it passes our retention period, and only the current position needed for a live trip is held outside that history.
- When Voryn staff view someone's live position or location history, for example an operator handling a support case on a trip in progress, that view is recorded. You can see those records in your own data download (section 10), by the role that looked rather than the individual's name.
7.How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here: while your account is active, and afterwards for as long as the law requires (for example financial and transaction records) or as needed to resolve disputes and prevent fraud. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it. You can delete your account yourself in the app (see section 10 and our Delete your account page), or by emailing info@vorynconnect.com.
8.How we protect your information
- Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes. Sign-in is protected against repeated failed attempts.
- Access to personal data inside Voryn Connect is role-based: staff only see what their role requires, and sensitive actions follow verified, approved processes.
- Wallet changes, payouts and refunds are recorded in an auditable ledger.
- Data moves over encrypted connections, and verification documents are stored with restricted access.
- No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, so we also maintain monitoring and an incident response process. If a breach ever affects your rights, we will notify you and the Office of the Information Commissioner as the law requires.
9.Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2020 (Jamaica), you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
- object to certain processing, including direct marketing (every promotional message includes a way to opt out);
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, such as location permissions;
- complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner of Jamaica if you believe we have mishandled your information.
Two of these are built into the app and do not need to go through us at all. See section 10. For anything else, email info@vorynconnect.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request, and we respond within the timelines the law sets.
10.Deleting your account, and taking a copy of your data
You can do both yourself, from inside the app, without contacting support. Both ask for your password first, because a signed-in phone in somebody else's hand should not be able to delete your account or download your history.
- Delete your account: Profile → Delete account, or Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete account. A few things have to be cleared first: money in your wallet, a trip in progress, an uncleared withdrawal, an open dispute, or a business you own. The screen tells you which of them apply to you. There is then a short waiting period (currently seven days) during which your account keeps working and you can cancel; after it, the erasure runs and cannot be undone.
- Download your data: Profile → Privacy & Security → Download my data, once a day. The file is assembled when you ask for it and is never stored by us. Other people who appear in your records are shown by first name only.
What erasure removes: your name, contact details, date of birth, photo, password, signed-in devices, saved addresses and vehicles, favourites, payment methods and bank details, your location history, and, if you drove or delivered, your licence number, vehicle details and the identity documents you uploaded. Uploaded files are removed from storage, not only from the database.
What stays, and why: records that are not yours alone. Orders, rides, deliveries, bookings and rentals remain as the provider's and driver's record of work done, with addresses and instructions removed and pickup and drop-off points blurred to about a kilometre. Payments, refunds, withdrawals and wallet entries remain as financial records we are required to keep, no longer naming anybody. Reviews stay with an anonymous author, because deleting them would restate a business's rating. Messages, support tickets and disputes stay because the same conversation is the other party's record. Fraud and abuse records stay, so that deleting an account cannot be used to clear one.
Full details, including how to ask if you have lost access to the account, are on our Delete your account page.
11.Children
Voryn Connect is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
12.International storage
Our cloud hosting and storage providers may store data on servers located outside Jamaica, including in the United States. Wherever data is stored, it remains protected by the safeguards in this policy and by our contracts with those providers, and it stays subject to your rights under Jamaican law.
14.Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect. The "Effective date" above always shows the current version.
